Supply pages in reading order unless the print team specifically requests printer spreads. The production imposition is a separate step.

Work through the job in four steps

  1. Agree the format

Set closed size, page count, cover and text stock, and binding. Saddle-stitched page counts are normally planned in multiples of four.

  2. Create a page map

List front cover, inside front cover, content, inside back cover and back cover.

  3. Allow for the bind

Keep type and critical imagery away from the fold or spine; ask about creep and spine width where relevant.

  4. Export in reading order

Supply single pages unless the production team asks for imposed spreads, then inspect the proof for missing and repeated pages.

Common mistake

Adding pages late can change the binding, imposition and cost.

Before you send the file

Check the exact specification with The Print Centre Warrington before final export. Bleed, resolution, colour setup, imposition and finishing allowances depend on the product and production route. Approve the final file and content yourself.
