Message hierarchy at viewing distance

Stand several metres from a full-size proof. If the main message disappears, simplify it before print.

Work through the job in four steps

  1. Measure the display

Record finished size, visible area, fixing method and viewing distance.

  2. Build a hierarchy

Lead with one message, then a short supporting line and a clear action. Test from several metres away.

  3. Allow for finishing

Keep essential content inside hems, eyelets and the bottom roll-in area of a roller banner.

  4. Check image scale

Use sufficiently detailed source images and inspect the PDF at the intended print scale.

Common mistake

A detailed leaflet layout scaled up to a banner is rarely readable across a room.

Before you send the file

Check the exact specification with The Print Centre Warrington before final export. Bleed, resolution, colour setup, imposition and finishing allowances depend on the product and production route. Approve the final file and content yourself.
